From the bestselling author of Weightless and A Love Letter to Whiskey

Wren Ballard is trying to find herself.

She never expected to be divorced at twenty-seven, but now that the court date has passed, it’s official. The paperwork is final. Her feelings on it aren’t.

Spending the summer in a small mountain town outside Seattle is exactly what she needs. The peaceful scenery is a given, the cat with the croaky meow is a surprise, but the real kicker? A broody neighbor with nice arms, a strange reputation, and absolutely no interest in her.

Anderson Black is perfectly fine being lost.

He doesn’t care about the town’s new resident — he’s too busy fighting his own demons. But when he’s brought face to face with Wren, he can see her still-fresh wounds from a mile away. What he doesn’t see coming is his need to know who put them there — or his desperation to mend them.

Sometimes getting lost is the way to find yourself. Sometimes healing only adds a new scar. And sometimes the last place you expected to be is exactly where you find home.

Review:

“Sometimes we get so far down a path because we want nothing more than for it to be the right one, but the truth of the matter is we can’t force it to be.”

Let me start out by saying that I love Kandi Steiner, I am a HUGE fan of A Love Letter To Whiskey, so naturally I was super excited to read this book. Not only that…that blurb? That cover? How could you not want to pick this one up? I mean seriously! Steiner is know for playing your heartstrings like a musical instrument, and Revelry was no different. Revelry is the story of two broken souls coming together to mend each other. Wren is a newly divorced city girl, who has lost not only her husband but also herself and her inspiration. Anderson is still struggling to heal from a tragedy that occurred 7 years ago. These two are such a broken pair, but that is what makes their story so beautiful. Revelry pulled on all the heartstrings…as well as maybe touched a little close to home. I am also someone who is struggling to find herself in this crazy chaotic world. The love that unfolds between Wren and Anderson while Wren’s summer is spent in the small cabin town, is truly magical.

There are some romances you read because they are steamy and sexy, and there are some romances you read that change your life and way of thinking. Revelry was the later. Now don’t get me wrong Revelry had all he benefits of a sexy romance as well, but the story of Wren and Anderson finding each other and themselves was an experience to hold dear, and it is about so much more than just the physical connection.

“So fall apart. Cry, throw things, remember the good times and the bad and then let them go. And before you close your eyes, each and every night, forgive yourself.”

Wren is such a strong female character. Yes, she may be struggling with the aftermath of a divorce and navigating her life. Yes, she may be completely lost in life. But in all honesty that is what makes her so strong. The fact that she had the strength to walk away and choose what was best for her, even in a moment that may have been calling her a different way. She is real and true, and very seldom do I come across characters that I can see so much of myself in.

Anderson…oh, my Anderson. He has been dealing with grief for so long that he doesn’t even know how to live life without it. He is just on auto-pilot going through the motions of each day. His character is written so incredibly well. You feel all of his pain and struggle…ever.single.bit. And all you want is for him to escape the shell he has locked himself in.

Not very often do I bring up supporting characters in reviews, mainly because I feel that they are just that supporting characters. However, the supporting cast in Revelry was anything but. Momma Von, Ron, Yvette, Julie. They were all stories of their own, they had each presented a different love relationship through their story. I fell in love with each supporting character as much as the MC’s. It brought the book together so well and you really are emotionally involved with each characters story.

“I wasn’t broken, though I had been bent and bruised.”

Revelry pulled on every possible heartstring I have. It was an emotional ride. Steiner did such a phenomenal job with the story and the writing. I seriously give her props! Not many books have the ability to leave such a mark on my heart, but she has managed to do so twice, and for that alone she deserves an award. If you haven’t picked this one up to read, then seriously you need to. No matter where you are in life, there is something to connect and learn from with in this story. Really though, this needs to be added to your TBR, even if you aren’t a romance junkie like me.

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.
