Fine art picture of serious young couple

The last thing a newly hired dean should be doing is one of his students…

Dirty flirting with the unbelievably hot barista at Bundt & Grind café is not how Elliott Goodridge should be spending his time. Temperance Falls College hired him to counteract a scandal—not burn through his paychecks on overpriced coffee with a side of impure thoughts.

For the amount of time college student Samantha Monroe spends fantasizing about the new guy in town, she should know more than just his name. But despite putting out all kinds of signs that she’s down for, well, putting out, Elliott hasn’t made a move. Yet.

By the time the truth is revealed, it’s too late to stop the charge between them. Sparks fly, but so do rumors. For Elliott, a day without his hands on Sam is too long—and two orgasm-free weeks until graduation is flat-out impossible.

London Hale novellas may be read in any order and enjoyed as standalones. Looking for something quick, filthy, and taboo? The couples of Temperance Falls deliver.

Seducing His Student is a short novella about a student/teacher type relationship. It’s the first book I have read from London Hale, and I did enjoy it even though it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. First off you all know I have a true love for books involving student/teacher relationships…like that is my favorite trope of all time. This should have easily been a great read for me, but I did struggle a little bit with it in the end. Going in I wasn’t aware that it was a novella and on the shorter side. I normally don’t read novellas and shorter stories, I always seem to feel like part of the story is missing. That was kind of the case for Seducing His Student.

While I enjoyed the story and the forbidden aspects of this story, I really just feel like their could have been more. It was a quick read, I finished it in one night without any problems. But what I struggled with the most was that there wasn’t a whole lot of depth to this story. Both Elliot and Sam were enjoyable characters, but I felt like they really didn’t meet or overcome any struggles. Life played out a little too easy for them. I wish the forbidden aspect had been played up a little bit more, as well as some added drama. I just think that with the length there wasn’t a chance for the story to develop in the way I wanted.

Dear Bridget I Want You by Penelope Ward & VI Keeland

Amazon | iBooks | B&N | Kobo | Google Play | Amazon paperback

Dear Bridget,

I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.

So, here goes.

We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.

But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.

I want you.

The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.

So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.

No questions asked.

Think about it.

Or don’t.

Whatever you choose.

It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.

Fraternize by Rachel Van Dyken | Blog Tour

Fraternize, an all-new sexy standalone from #1 New York Times Bestseller Rachel Van Dyken is available NOW!!

Fraternize by Rachel Van Dyken
Release Date: September 12th

Genre: Contemporary Romance

New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken kicks off a brand-new series in which romance is a game and love is a touchdown.

Emerson just made her dream come true as a professional cheerleader for her favorite pro football team. But even though the plus-size athlete is breaking down boundaries, she still has to contend with the massive rulebook. Carbs? Nope. Chocolate? Definitely not. Still, Emerson loves her curves, and she’ll rock the hell out of this job even if it kills her. Except for one mandate that is easier read than done…

No fraternizing with the players.

Problem one is Miller Quinton: Emerson’s first love, first sex, and the guy who still ignites her daydreams and R-rated fantasies. Thrown back together, Miller and Emerson feel the undeniable pull of passion again, even if the conflict that tore them apart seems insurmountable. Then there’s way-too-sexy Grant Sanchez. He has a serious reputation with the ladies, and when it comes to winning someone he wants, he doesn’t let anyone stand in his way.

Now Emerson is breaking every rule in the manual. But what she doesn’t know is that she’s part of a wicked little game—one that could steal both her dream and her heart.

“The best.” His lips grazed my ear. “Curves, know this,” His breath was hot on my neck, “If you need to cry, I’ll hold you until you’re done. Sometimes the only way to get over things, is to walk through them, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it on your own.”

My breath hitched in my chest. “Does that mean you’re going to walk with me?”

“That’s all I’ve wanted since meeting you.” He pulled back and gripped my hand. “You know, other than sex.”

I laughed, “You’re ridiculous, you know that right?”

“But, I did just make you laugh, when minutes ago you were crying. I hate those tears, Curves. Never want to be the cause of them, ever.”

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep.”

“I’m not.” He said it so sternly that I sucked in a breath. “I think I need to use that hand now…maybe on your chest, possibly that shirt.”

Fraternize is the first book I have read by Rachel Van Dyken. I’m not really sure how I have gone so long without reading one of her books, considering I feel like she is a fairly well know author. I am always down to read a good sports romance so having the chance to review this was awesome. I enjoyed Fraternize! It wasn’t quite what I expected but I still enjoyed it all the same. Fraternize is the story of Emerson, a curvy girl who has always wanted to be a pro cheerleader, Miller her first love, and Grant the sexy, arrogant star.

I will say this book is heavy on the love triangle. Now either I like the way love triangles or done, or I hate them. Fraternize is a good example of one that I really enjoyed. It kept me guessing, but it also kept me torn between the two. I really couldn’t decided whether I liked Miller or Grant better…It was a struggle. I really think the way Rachel Van Dyken wrote these characters is was hard not to love and be routing for both. I was a little surprise by the ending, but I do think it was the right call.

Fraternize had a good blend of sports, drama, and love. I think that it stepped a little more on the sports side than the typical sports romances I read which I quite enjoyed. I might not be a huge sports fan in real life…but I love to read about them. You can tell the Rachel knows her sports, and all things that go along with it. Overall, it was a light, easy, fun read! The writing was great and it had a great flow that had me sailing through this book in about a day. I would highly recommend this for anyone who likes sports romances or even just a good love triangle.

Lust by Emma Hart | Review

LUST2New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, brings together two polar-opposite single parents in the second book in the sinfully sexy Vegas Nights series.

Detective Adrian Potter had a lot to answer for. I didn’t care that he was tasked with shutting down the city’s most prolific hookers.

I cared that he was stopping me from providing for my daughter.

He didn’t care.
Not at all.
Until I broke down in the backseat of his car… And he let me go.

Adrian was a single parent, too. He knew how hard I had it. At least, he thought he did.
He had a job. He had people who cared. He didn’t know just how lucky he was.

My name is Perrie Fox.
I was a whore of the highest value.

Until Detective Adrian Potter.

Until the tattooed, redemption-seeking detective entered my life, looking for his fairytale.

The cop and the hooker.

Happily ever fucking never.

You’ve met one Fox sibling.
Now meet the other…

(LUST is book two of the Vegas Nights series. While it is a standalone, the time frame does overlap with scenes in the previous book, SIN. You can, however, read LUST without reading SIN.)

Alright Emma Hart way to blow my mind. Like seriously, I think I am still fanning myself! Lust is the second book in the Vegas Nights series, however it can be read as a standalone. Sin is the first book, which I loved, and you can read my review here. I have been slowly waiting for Lust since I read the snippet in the back of Sin. Now I really loved Sin and I thought it was going to be hard to top but nope Lust was by far my favorite of the two! I think the whole book I went between butterflies and combusting. I LOVED Adrian and Perrie’s story. I already knew I was going to enjoy it based on the blurb but it really just blew me away.

Adrian and Perrie were absolute FIRE. Like set me on fire and call me a cop…no, not a firefighter, I’m going to need a cop to put this one out!! 😉 There was so much genuine chemistry in this book. Not only that but I loved the way these two interacted together. Adrian is oh so smooth with all his damn panty dropping sexy lines…and Perrie is bound and determined to stay away. Hart gives us two MCs that are so strong and easy to love. Both have had a hard journey and are doing what they can to support themselves. I really enjoyed the face that they were both such real characters. I felt truly connected to both of them.

On that note, my second favorite part of this book was their kids! There were a couple parts that had interactions with their kids that had me laughing out loud. I got a lot of weird looks from my hubby while I was reading this one! Haha. But seriously Lola and Zac were my favorite! Again Hart gave us another two very real characters. They were sweet and such a team.

Emma Hart has stolen my heart with this one. There wasn’t one thing I didn’t absolutely love about this book. From characters, to writing, to the storyline, everything was a perfect read for me. And I will fight you for Adrian Potter…who has won the title of my new book boyfriend.

Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.

Because of Him by Terri E. Laine
Release Date: September 7th
Genre: New Adult Romance

Because of Him an all-new romance by Terri E. Laine is available NOW!

Becuase-Of-Him-Paperback (1) sm

Past and present intertwine with light and dark to tell a story …Because of Him

Something inside me fiercely craves normal.

Sheltered all my life and taught to be afraid, I want to be bold, fearless.

Up until now I’ve kept myself and my heart safe.

Tade Astor, a guy so hot he steals my breath away, jeopardizes it all.

He isn’t the kind of guy to give up on what he wants—me.

He’s determined to prove my safe world is missing something—him.

Even though he may not be the cocky guy I assumed him to be…

He’s definitely not the guy I should give my heart to.

But each time I see him, he becomes harder to resist.

I want to be brave and give him a chance… though it might come back to haunt me.

At the heart of Because of Him is a love story. But due to certain sensitive topics, it might not be suitable for all readers.

She glanced down, allowing her hair to create a wall between us. “You don’t even know me,” she said.

“I know you keep one side of your hair tucked behind your ear to reveal a tiny hoop earring pierced halfway down the curve of your ear. The piercing is most likely an act of defiance against your traditionally minded parents. You reveal it to show you’re your own person. But it’s the other side of your hair that hangs loose to hide your face that’s so telling. There is a part of you that’s a rebel but doesn’t want to be seen at the same time.”

While she sat dumbstruck, I reached out with my hand and allowed myself the touch of her cheek before brushing the hair to secure it behind the other naked ear.

“You shouldn’t hide a face as pretty as yours.”

Because Of Him is a romance like no other I have read. It is emotional, sensitive, raw and beautiful. I was enthralled from the beginning. Because Of Him starts in the future and then rips us back into the future. Throughout the entirety of the book we go back and forth between present and past. I will keep the review spoiler free, so that is all you will get from me as far as details about the story. But I will say that this book really gripped me from the beginning. It took a little bit for the anticipation to grow, but in all honestly I was so gripped with the characters that I didn’t mind that the story got off a little slow. This is the second book I have read from Terri E. Laine, and to be honest I wasn’t completely sold with the first one. However, this one majorly surprised me.

Laine’s writing in this book is beautiful. She presents us with beautiful characters that you just love from the beginning. This book covers quite a few more difficult topics and I think that Laine did a great job at being sensitive to those said topics. The story had a fantastic flow to it, and although it might have started a little slow for my liking I think it was still well paced. Both of the MCs in this book I fell absolutely in love with, I think that their story needed to be special, and it sure was! There is passion and fight and SO MUCH EMOTION. And can we talk about that twist?? UGH I wish I could just spew spoilers all over for you, but I will be good!

This really is a romance in a class all of it’s own. I highly recommend one-clicking this one today. If you like New Adult, romance, or really are just in the mood for an emotionally beautiful story pick this up today!

Breathing You In is an emotional story about healing after tragic life events. Both Hannah and Logan have known loss in their lives. This book is the story of two broken and hurt souls coming back to themselves as well as finding love in each other. It really is a beautiful story, and I don’t want to give too much away, but overall this book was a decent read. Alright Kaytlyn…but you just said it was a beautiful story so what am I missing? Well I wasn’t over the moon about the writing.  So as it comes down to it I had mixed feelings about this one.
For me the storyline and the ideas in this book were a smash hit. If thats all I judged a book on this would probably be a 5 star review. But it’s not. And I just can’t seem to give it that rating. So here is the thing…honestly, in quite a few places this book was choppy and rushed. I feel like the beginning did a great job at leading and building up the story and characters. I fell in love with both Hannah and Logan, as they became friends, as the spark took off, and even as their chemistry shot into outer space. However as the book progressed that development in the writing faded off. I think that there were a couple different topics that could have been expanded on more that were simply glossed over. On top of that, there were a few scenes where I had to retrace my steps and go…wait how did I get here?
I really do think that with a few tweaks to the writing this book could have been a 5 star read for me. But as it sits, this book was still enjoyable it just didn’t live up to my expectations.
