The Wright Boss by K.A. Linde | Review Blitz

TWBoss iBooksA new stand alone office romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I’ve always had one rule:

Don’t mix business and pleasure.

But then Landon Wright comes home to his family’s construction company with a broken back and a beaten heart and ends up as my new sexy boss. As the office gets heated, I’m thinking about throwing the rulebook out the window.

If only there weren’t a million reasons this could never work.

We may have shared a single perfect kiss, but I can’t let our intense connection cloud my judgment. Not with everything I’ve worked for on the line.

Dating your boss is so very, very wrong…even if he feels so Wright.

The Wright Boss is the second “Wright” book, and while still considered as a standalone, I do feel that it could be considered a series. The first one is Jensen and Emery’s story titled The Wright Brother, and you can find my review for it here.

Damn them Wright brothers though!!! Like seriously where is mine?? Can I please have one cause they are F-I-N-E.

giphy (4)

So, The Wright Boss is the story of Landon and Heidi. Landon, is a professional golfer who is dealing with a career changing injury, and also struggling within his marriage. Heidi is Emery’s best friend and an employee of Wright Construction, a job that is the number one thing in her life. Heidi and Landon’s “thing” started up prior to this book, so they already had some flames flying. However, Landon was trying to make things work with his wife, so he cooled things off. But Heidi and Landon just can’t seem to stay away from each other, and once Landon realizes that his wife is not who he think she is, all he seems to want is Heidi. The Wright Boss is a slow burning, friends-to-lovers book that also adds in the element of an office relationship.

Now, as I said I LOVE me some Wright men. K.A. Linde sure knows how to make em! I really did enjoy this book. It was fun, sexy as hell and most definitely a slow ride as far as relationship development. I felt that Heidi and Landon took their time getting to the relationship point, but it was a good development. The progression of their relationship was perfectly timed to their story and the things happening. However, it was one of those where it was one step forward five steps back kinda thing. I don’t think it deterred me though, it never got to the point where it got on my nerves.

Both of the MC’s in this are dealing with some problematic life issues. The contribution of both Heidi’s and Landon’s issues outside of the relationship really added a layer to this book. It gave it a depth that I think it truly needed, especially to set it apart from the sea of romance novels. We get to journey through the MC’s growth and development throughout the story, and it was so fun to get to see.

*******Spoilers Ahead*******

Now, there is one major issue I can see readers having with this book. While I myself didn’t necessarily have a problem with it, I did see some people mentioning it. Timing. In this one we do get some time jumps, considering it is a slower paced evolvement and the face that Linde chose good parts to break, I could care about that. However, the entire story dose take place while Landon is still technically married. Now, like I said I didn’t really even think twice about this as he was in the process of getting divorced, however, I can seem some people getting upset about that. So if that is going to bother you, then I advise against picking this one up.

******END SPOILERS******

Overall I greatly enjoyed The Wright Boss, and I am looking forward to the next book from the Wright family, The Wright Mistake which is coming the beginning of August, I believe. I would highly recommend this book if you enjoy a friends-to-lovers book, or just a really steamy slow climb!!

About the Book:

From the New York Times bestselling author of Off the Clock comes a story of love, hate, and the fire that ignites when the two collide…

Dr. Elle McCray has a plan. Work hard. Be the best. And do it alone. After her ex-husband’s betrayal, she’s learned being feared is a hell of a lot easier than being humiliated. So when trouble personified, Lane Cannon, dares to flirt with her, she shuts him down cold. Too gorgeous. Too cocky. And his job as The Grove’s sexual surrogate is to sleep with patients. No, thank you.

Former escort Lane Cannon has spent enough years with people looking down on him. Stupid. Trailer trash. Rent boy. He’s heard it all. He’s worked too hard to shed his past to let some haughty doctor cut him down. But something about Elle’s ice queen act has his dominant instincts perking up and his body taking notice. He can’t walk away.
After an evening of verbal sparring turns into a night of steamy hate sex, Lane’s ready for round two. But Elle proposes a business deal. How better to keep things strictly physical than to pay him for his services?
Lane wants her, not her money. But he’ll play along in exchange for one thing—all the control. It’s only supposed to be a dirty little fling between colleagues, but these two are about to learn a lesson in love…by the hour.

Okay guys, let me just start by saying I fan girl-ed the FUCK out when I found out I got to review By The Hour. Roni Loren is my all time favorite author…and 100% of the reason I have an addiction to romance. I haven’t read a Loren book I didn’t love ( and I have read them all). So seriously I was so excited to have the opportunity to review her new one! If I could bring all of Loren’s men to life I would seriously be in heaven… and Lane Cannon was no different! Really though, every book Loren does is just an instant hit with this girl so it is no surprise that I LOVED By The Hour!

We meet both Elle and Lane in Off The Clock, the first book in this series, and I have to say while I loved Lane from the get go I was not a big fan of Elle. Lane is the smokin’ hot sex surrogate that works on the X-wing at The Grove. He is one of those people you just can’t help but love, he is kind hearted and genuine, even though he has come through quite the past to get to where he is today. Elle McCray is the ice queen, as the head doctor in the rehab unit, she has a reputation that makes even the her co-workers run. After a failed marriage, she turned her heart into a fortress and refuses to let anyone in. Her career, and maybe some hate sex every once in a while is all she needs to keep her going. The chemistry between these two is OFF THE CHARTS…I thought my kindle was going to go up in flames! What starts as hate sex quickly becomes so much more between these two.

I love Loren’s writing style, she creates such amazing characters and stories it is hard not to fall in love with each one. While the Pleasure Principles Series, Off the Clock and now By The Hour, are significantly tamer than her Loving on The Edge Series, Loren still manages to give us a steamy hot read with a little bit of kink mixed in. The relationship between Elle and Lane was such an explosive one. There was so much hate and anger driving them to begin with, but as they learned each others story you see the utter passion come through. Loren did such a phenomenal job and taking Elle from one of my most disliked characters in any of her books, to one of my favorites. We finally get to understand where she was coming from and what made her the infamous ice queen she is today. Her story was heartbreaking, although, in all honesty probably one of my favorite backstories out of all Loren’s books. We also get to glimpse more into Lane’s past, from prostitution to sex surrogate he journey is also one that I enjoyed.

This book was amazing, it’s steamy, and sexy, and a little kinky…but overall it is a epic love story about what happens when you finally let yourself open up. I am so glad that Loren decided to give Lane and Elle a book. If you haven’t picked up this book yet you most definitely should get it on your list!

Revelry By Kandi Steiner | Book Blast With Review

Revelry, an all-new standalone from Kandi Steiner is available now!!!

Revelry Cover_FINAL.png

From the bestselling author of Weightless and A Love Letter to Whiskey

Wren Ballard is trying to find herself.

She never expected to be divorced at twenty-seven, but now that the court date has passed, it’s official. The paperwork is final. Her feelings on it aren’t.

Spending the summer in a small mountain town outside Seattle is exactly what she needs. The peaceful scenery is a given, the cat with the croaky meow is a surprise, but the real kicker? A broody neighbor with nice arms, a strange reputation, and absolutely no interest in her.

Anderson Black is perfectly fine being lost.

He doesn’t care about the town’s new resident — he’s too busy fighting his own demons. But when he’s brought face to face with Wren, he can see her still-fresh wounds from a mile away. What he doesn’t see coming is his need to know who put them there — or his desperation to mend them.

Sometimes getting lost is the way to find yourself. Sometimes healing only adds a new scar. And sometimes the last place you expected to be is exactly where you find home.

Available Now Square-01

“Sometimes we get so far down a path because we want nothing more than for it to be the right one, but the truth of the matter is we can’t force it to be.”

Let me start out by saying that I love Kandi Steiner, I am a HUGE fan of A Love Letter To Whiskey, so naturally I was super excited to read this book. Not only that…that blurb? That cover? How could you not want to pick this one up? I mean seriously! Steiner is know for playing your heartstrings like a musical instrument, and Revelry was no different. Revelry is the story of two broken souls coming together to mend each other. Wren is a newly divorced city girl, who has lost not only her husband but also herself and her inspiration. Anderson is still struggling to heal from a tragedy that occurred 7 years ago. These two are such a broken pair, but that is what makes their story so beautiful. Revelry pulled on all the heartstrings…as well as maybe touched a little close to home. I am also someone who is struggling to find herself in this crazy chaotic world. The love that unfolds between Wren and Anderson while Wren’s summer is spent in the small cabin town, is truly magical.

There are some romances you read because they are steamy and sexy, and there are some romances you read that change your life and way of thinking. Revelry was the later. Now don’t get me wrong Revelry had all he benefits of a sexy romance as well, but the story of Wren and Anderson finding each other and themselves was an experience to hold dear, and it is about so much more than just the physical connection.

“So fall apart. Cry, throw things, remember the good times and the bad and then let them go. And before you close your eyes, each and every night, forgive yourself.”

Wren is such a strong female character. Yes, she may be struggling with the aftermath of a divorce and navigating her life. Yes, she may be completely lost in life. But in all honesty that is what makes her so strong. The fact that she had the strength to walk away and choose what was best for her, even in a moment that may have been calling her a different way. She is real and true, and very seldom do I come across characters that I can see so much of myself in.

Anderson…oh, my Anderson. He has been dealing with grief for so long that he doesn’t even know how to live life without it. He is just on auto-pilot going through the motions of each day. His character is written so incredibly well. You feel all of his pain and struggle…ever.single.bit. And all you want is for him to escape the shell he has locked himself in.

Not very often do I bring up supporting characters in reviews, mainly because I feel that they are just that supporting characters. However, the supporting cast in Revelry was anything but. Momma Von, Ron, Yvette, Julie. They were all stories of their own, they had each presented a different love relationship through their story. I fell in love with each supporting character as much as the MC’s. It brought the book together so well and you really are emotionally involved with each characters story.

“I wasn’t broken, though I had been bent and bruised.”

Revelry pulled on every possible heartstring I have. It was an emotional ride. Steiner did such a phenomenal job with the story and the writing. I seriously give her props! Not many books have the ability to leave such a mark on my heart, but she has managed to do so twice, and for that alone she deserves an award. If you haven’t picked this one up to read, then seriously you need to. No matter where you are in life, there is something to connect and learn from with in this story. Really though, this needs to be added to your TBR, even if you aren’t a romance junkie like me.

Paper Fools by Staci Hart | Blog Tour with Review

In the game of love, she never loses.

Paper Fools by Staci Hart is available now!!

Title: Paper Fools

Author: Staci Hart

Cover Designer: Quirkybird Designs

Photographer: Lauren Watson Perry

Aphrodite knows love — just don’t ask her to figure out her own mess.

Rather than deal with her sticky love life, she toys with the hearts of unwitting humans. It’s a little game she plays, and the stakes are high. Lucky for her, she’s just found the perfect match.

Lex is everything Dean needs, but he can’t have her.

It doesn’t matter that her eyes speak to a long forgotten part of him, or that her art and poetry touch his shredded heart. She’s off limits — crossing that line would implode his band and everything he’s ever cared about. There’s only one option: stay away from her, no matter the cost. Even if the price is his heart.

Dean is everything Lex wants, but she can’t take the risk.

The second she meets him, she knows her heart is in danger. She’s convinced it’s only attraction that has her hung up on the dark, quiet lead singer, but with every day that passes, she knows it’s more. It’s just that she can’t put her heart on the line. She won’t — love has never been worth the sacrifice.

If only they knew they were just pawns in a much bigger game. And in the game of love, Aphrodite never loses.

*Formerly titled Deer in Headlights, Paper Fools has been rewritten and reedited just for you.*

She reached into her bag, digging around in the black hole for her book, but looked up, sensing someone in front of her.

When her eyes locked on his, she froze.

They were the greenest eyes she’d ever seen, shocking and bright, rimmed by thick, dark lashes. His long face was graced with an elegant nose and wide lips bent in a crooked smile. And he was tall, really tall, with ebony hair that fell forward as he looked down at her. He pushed it back without seeming to think about it, but it still looked perfectly tossed, like he’d just rolled out of bed.

She realized she still hadn’t taken a breath and flushed as she fumbled and almost dropped her book.

“Uh, hi. I’m Lex.” She tossed her hand in a wave, hoping she looked casual.

He paused for a second, watching her with an expression she couldn’t quite place. The moment seemed to stretch on forever, and as she studied him, it dawned on her that he was amused. This unnerved her, even more so when it dawned upon her that it was exactly what he wanted.

“Hey,” he said, the timbre of his voice deep and full. “I’m Dean.”

Lex realized her mouth was open. And that he was smirking. And that he was dead sexy while he was doing it.

She closed her mouth and cocked an eyebrow, putting on her snark to hide the fact that he’d gotten to her.

“Dean, huh? I heard they call you Professor Panty Dropper.”

His smile stretched wider. “Oh, is that what they say?”

“They do.”

A tall blond, who she guessed was Roe, stood at the microphone, glaring at them. “Mic check, Dean.”

They stared at each other like idiots for a split second longer before Dean turned to pick up his guitar, and he took his place with the rest of the band. She watched him walk away and blinked a few times before turning to her bag again, not looking for anything in particular — she only wanted to keep her hands busy and her eyes off of Dean while she scraped her dignity off the floor.

I have absolutely loved every book I have read from Staci Hart. Seriously though her books are an automatic 1-click for me. So I was super excited to see she was releasing a new one. And from what I understand this book was already published under a different name, and Hart went back in and re-worked it and changed the title. But none the less, I was super excited to have the opportunity to review this. I went into Paper Fools fairly blind, I had read the blurb but had managed to kind of forget it by the time I started reading. I was surprised when I noticed that not only was this going to be a romance, but it was also going to have an element of Greek Mythology. Paper Fools starts out with a game between Aphrodite and Apollo, Aphrodite is trying to match the two main characters together, while Apollo is trying to keep them apart. Lex and Dean, our two main characters have some serious issues with love, but honestly the chemistry between them is out of this world. As the story plays out we not only get to watch the romance between Dean and Lex blossom, we also get to enjoy the story of the Gods as they mastermind this game.

Okay, so I’m not going to lie to you I was very skeptical at the get go, and it took me a little bit to get into this one. At first I wasn’t as draw into the storyline going on with the Gods, their backstory and things, and that seemed to be the majority of what I was getting. But as the book progressed I grew to enjoy that part quite a bit more. However, if there was one thing I could choose to change about this book, it would be the amount of focus on Aphrodite and the Gods. On the other hand, I was addicted to Lex and Dean’s parts of the story. Like seriously addicted. I kept reading to get to their chapters and parts. Their story was great, emotional, and raw. I think that Hart did such a good job developing each character, both human and God, in this one. Looking back, after some time to process the book, I really did love the book as a whole. It is such an original story and idea, and Hart handled it so well. The writing was in typical Hart style, and it pulled on my heartstrings as always. I was not disappointed in this at all. It is another win in the book for Hart, and I would highly recommend this. I am hoping that this evolves into a series and we get to watch Aphrodite challenge each of the Gods in her game of love.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Gritty. Sexy. Taboo.

Melanie Cannon is troubled, desperate, and only eighteen. Taking the fall for a friend, she’s forced into a drug education class, which she expects to be boring as hell. Until Detective Jake Beck walks in as her instructor.

Jake knows it’s a mistake to get involved with a high school senior.

But their passion is undeniable.
Their bond is the kind that lasts forever.
Their connection is more than just lust.

Jake’s willing to risk it all—even when harsh betrayal and ugly secrets threaten everything.

Rough Around The Soul is the story of Melanie, a barley 18 high school senior, and Jake, a 25 year old detective who is teaching a drug awareness class. These two cross paths in a bar (Melanie has a fake…of course.) on her 18th birthday. Jake knows nothing about Melanie, until she shows up in the Drug Awareness class he is teaching. He is quickly caught in the spell that is this girl, he can’t seem to just walk away. Jake tries to fight it and not get involved, however, Melanie doesn’t really have anyone to turn to, and it is hard for him to just let her go. As the tension builds between these two so does their chemistry, which is off the charts by the way, and neither can fight it.

Okay, so this is the first book I have read from Maria Monroe, and I did enjoy it! I would pick up another of her books for sure. Her writing was well done and well developed. However, I was a little disappointed in this book, unfortunately. From the blurb I knew I was going to have to get my hands on this one, you know I’m all about a forbidden relationship. But I didn’t feel like this was what I was hoping it would be. The forbidden aspect, while there, was just not on the level I wanted it to be. Yes, Melanie is barley 18, and Jake is kind of her teacher, but I just don’t think that the relationship was as forbidden as it was made out to be. Maybe that is just the way I feel, but I was hoping for something a little more.  Maybe there wasn’t enough drama surrounding their relationship, or not enough on the line. Anyways, as far as characters go I quite enjoyed both MC’s. Melanie is a girl who has had a hard life, between a checked-out mom and a SUPER horrible best friend, however, she has still managed to keep her head on and has gotten a full ride to a great college. I feel for Melanie, she is strong and independent. And although she has some tough struggles throughout the book, she is overcoming all odds. Jake was also an enjoyable character, he is a detective on loan helping out his uncle. He is running from some family problems of his own. But you can tell he is a good guy, he is always looking out for Melanie…although at some points his antics get a little stalkery, I still enjoyed that he was one of the only people who genuinely cared about her.

Overall, I did enjoy Rough Around The Soul and would still recommend it. It just wasn’t what I had made it out to be. If you like a steamy sexy somewhat forbidden story. Then this book is for you.

**Thank you to the author for a copy in exchange for review.**

Okay so if by some crazy magic you haven’t seen my reviews for Quinn’s other books know that I LOVE Jillian Quinn, and her work. I have read both Corrupt Me and Parker and loved them both. So when she announced that her next book was going to be about a student/teacher relationship I seriously jumped for joy. I mean come on, you know that’s like my favorite trope ever! I seriously was SO EXCITED for Teach. Teach is the story of Mark a college senior and star baseball pitcher, who happens to have a bad side and a thing for fast cars. And Olivia, aka Teach, a club dancer with a law degree that has snagged her first teaching job. These two run into each other and have one (or two) seriously steamy hot nights together. Then Mark walks into Olivia’s class and she realizes he is her student. But I mean come on it is hard to fight something so good.

So this book, it was a seriously wicked hot read. If you like your books down and dirty…this one is for you. I liked the how hot the relationship between Olivia and Mark was. I liked that they both were fighting to stay afloat, and they each what needed to be done to take care of themselves and their family. I also liked the realness of Olivia’s struggles with her past as a lawyer, and Mark’s determined need to take care of his family. However, this book did not completely live up to my expectations. I didn’t have my usual connection to the story like I have with Quinn’s other books. As much as I liked both main characters I didn’t feel the connection to them that I wanted. For me Teach was a little lackluster…don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed the book but it wasn’t the out of the park hit I was hoping for from Quinn. Maybe my expectations were set too high, which is a possibility with me knowing that I have loved all of Quinn’s work so far, and it being a relationship of my favorite sort. Maybe I worked it up too much in my head. I don’t know. I am really sad I didn’t love this as much as I expected. I still think it was an enjoyable book though. I did enjoy the appearances and nods to the characters from Quinn’s other books, and the fact that I think Quinn has found her footing with some HOT HOT writing. And like I said if you like dirty, smutty, naughty books (which if you are reading this is a possibility!) I still would recommend this one. Quinn’s writing style is always well done and enjoyable. Give this one a shot, just because it wasn’t my new favorite book doesn’t mean it wont be yours!

** I received a copy of this book for review, and special thanks to the author and Inkslinger PR**

The Best Man is Contemporary Romance that follows Veronica Webber. Veronica has recently just divorced her husband after finding him cheating and has decided to move to New York City to try to find her way again. Trevor Allen is tall dark and handsome…he also has a list of conquests a mile long. However, the one girl he never really had a chance with was Veronica. He was best friends with her fiance…and happened to be the best man at their wedding. So when Trever’s brother drags him to a hipster bar one night, the last person he expects to see is Veronica. He can tell she needs a friend, and for some strange reason he has a compulsion to be this friend. But Trever has always know Veronica was different…and there is only so long these two can fight their chemistry.

The Best Man was a great read. It was a sweet story about love finding it’s way in the end. This is the first book I have read from Bohrman and I will say I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the connection between Veronica and Trever…from the first time they met, throughout their story, I loved the way their love unfolded. Yeah, it was a little of you typical bad meets right woman and turns good kind of story, but that isn’t always a bad thing. Tropes like this one are popular in romance for a reason, we all love to see a bad boy turn good. I LOVED Trever, he was swoon worthy and sweet all at the same time. I also enjoyed Veronica’s character quite a bit. She is kind of lost in life and trying to find her way, and for some reason I always seem to connect with those sorts of characters…maybe the universe is trying to tell me something about myself?! HAHA. Anyways, I liked that these two had a past and that not all of it was good. I think it added some good dramatic elements on top of the fact that Trever was the best man at Veronica’s wedding. I also think that Trever and Veronica’s love story had an added element of surprise to both of them. Neither one of them every thought that they would end up together…oh, but man did the universe have other plans. And DAMN their chemistry was off the charts H-O-T!!!

Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot. I think you definitely should one-click this one right away! I think you all will absolutely fall in love with Trever and Veronica’s story.

About Barbie Bohrman:

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Barbie Bohrman dreamed of becoming an author. Long after she had given up, a book club’s prologue contest enticed her to give it one more go. What emerged were the beginnings of her debut novel, Promise Me. Now she’s living her dream and writing stories that entice readers to escape and break away from reality. When she’s not writing, you can find her trying to get through the books on her Kindle (more than a thousand at last count) or watching Lost or Seinfeld. She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, two children, and two dogs.
