Standalone Sunday

Standalone Sunday | June 25th

Hello loves!

Happy Sunday! I hope that you all have had a wonderful weekend. It is Sunday which means (yes, tomorrow is Monday!) but that also means it is time for a Standalone Sunday post. This is a weekly feature hosted over at bookslayerReads.

This week my choice is…

Untitled design (3)

34446924I was the low life.
The screw up.
The hopeless one with no future.

He was the rich guy. The smart one. The one who had it all.
My parents admired everything he did, while I was known for being their greatest disappointment. I didn’t follow the path they paved for me.

I drank, partied, and did whatever the hell I wanted. The buzz was something I couldn’t live without – the fire that filled my veins after each sip always kept me running back for more.

But then I met her, and suddenly the drinks didn’t matter. The parties weren’t as fun. That fiery buzz came second for once.
I drowned only in her, wanting her more than I wanted to exist.
But even with her, I screwed things up.

Now, he’s with the woman I love. And he may have her, but what he should know is that even with all of his money, that nice house, and his expensive cars, her mind, body, and soul will always belong to me.

And I’m not sorry about it, brother, ’cause she was mine first.

** 100 PROOF is a standalone forbidden romance. **

This book was HOT, and a little messed up, and a lot sexy. It had some darker elements that really just pulled me in. I loved the love/hate relationship between the two MC’s. If you are looking for a darker, more forbidden romance…look no further. I would highly suggest 100 Proof!

I hope you all enjoy what is left of your Sunday! And have a great week! 🙂

Until Next Time…

Standalone Sunday

Standalone Sunday | June 18th

Hello loves! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend. I know I have spent the weekend working, which is never much fun! And I swear I have 2 children, my roommates SUCK! Today consisted of work, grocery shopping, then coming home to clean up after them. I am now going to proceed to have a drink 😉 and get some blog posts done! Okay, so small rant over!

Standalone Sunday is a weekly feature hosted over @ bookslayerReads

This week I am showcasing…

30236300I’ve loved him as long as I can remember.

The gangly boy with big brown eyes and unruly hair who grew up into an intoxicating man. He wears scruff like he invented it and ambles with a swagger that makes panties drop.

Killian Shepard.

Shep.

We grew up together. We played Ghost in the Graveyard. Had our own rock band. It didn’t matter that he was five years older than me. It didn’t matter that he looked at me as a kid sister even as I grew into woman. It didn’t even matter when he left me behind to go to college and start his adult life.

He’d be back.
He was always meant to be mine.

He came back, all right. But instead of smelling of promises, he stunk of betrayal. And he destroyed me—us—the day he married my sister instead of me.

So I did the only thing a girl like me in my position could do.

I got my revenge.
I married his brother, Kael.
Now we’re one big happy f*cking family.

Okay, so I have read this book recently, and I haven’t done a full review on it, mostly because it would turn into a long rant about how much I LOVED this book. OHMIGOD I loved this freaking book. It is so twisted and messed up, and absolutely amazing. This book had me hook line and sinker, as well as my two friends that I share reading tastes with. If you love a crazy f* up storyline with lots of family drama, then this book is for you! I seriously can’t even tell you how amazing the writing in this book is, this is the first book I have read from Kreig but it definitely won’t be the last. If you haven’t read Black Swan Affair you most certainly should…like…RIGHT NOW!

Standalone Sunday | June 11th

Hello loves! I haven’t done a Standalone Sunday post in a hot minute, but here I am compelled to bring you one this week. I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday night. Standalone Sunday is a weekly feature that got it’s start from Megan over at bookslayerReads.

This week I am going to spotlight the book that I literally just finished reading.

Untitled design (3)

27406436The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men’s locker room.
It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster.
The famed quarterback decided to bare all.
And by all, I don’t mean he told me any of his secrets.
No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel, just as I asked the first question. On camera.
The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby—screwing with me.
When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me, to wanting to screw me.
But I don’t date players.
And it’s not because I’m one of the few women working in the world of professional football.
I’d date an athlete.
It’s the other kind of player I don’t date.
You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.

Brody Easton was the ultimate player.
Every woman wanted to be the one to change him.
But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for.
Turned out, I was that girl.
Simple right?
Let’s face it. It never is.
There’s a story between once upon a time and happily ever after
And this one is ours.

Okay, so I know a lot of people are on the Vi Keeland fan train, but this is actually the first book I have read from her. Now that isn’t for lack of want, I have a lot of her books on my TBR. This one I happened to get for free through Romance Reads of the Month this month and so I jumped right into it. I now know that I will be reading so many more Keeland books. I really enjoyed this sports romance. I do have to say I think I enjoyed the first half a little bit more than the second, but it was still a good read all around. If you like a good sports romance, and sexy as hell quarterbacks, definitely check this on out!

Have you read this? What did you think? Let’s chat! And as always feel free to drop you Standalone Sunday link below!

Standalone Sunday | March 12h

standalone-1

Hey loves! It’s Sunday again which means it is time for another Standalone Sunday which is a weekly feature hosted by Megan @ bookslayerReads. I have been away from my blog for a couple days, I took some much needed mental health days, got to hang out with some good friends and such. I’ve also been slacking on my reading this week! So here is to catching up this week!

This week’s standalone…

24853763In this sexy and intriguing novel, an intense—and passionate—bond between a high school senior and her music teacher becomes a public scandal that threatens the reputation of both.

Bea has a secret.

Actually, she has more than one. There’s her dream for the future that she can’t tell anyone—not her father and not even her best friend, Plum.

And now there’s Dane Rossi. Dane is hot, he shares Bea’s love of piano, and he believes in her.

He’s also Bea’s teacher.

When their passion for music crosses into passion for each other, Bea finds herself falling completely for Dane. She’s never felt so wanted, so understood, so known to her core. But the risk of discovery carries unexpected surprises that could shake Bea entirely. Bea must piece together what is and isn’t true about Dane, herself, and the most intense relationship she’s ever experienced in this absorbing novel from Nancy Ohlin, the author of Beauty.

So this one is a YA about a student teacher relationship. Now, I’m a sucker for this trope, but I wasn’t quite sure if I was going to like how it played out in a YA novel. However, I absolutely loved this book. It was one of those random pick ups at the library, and I’m so glad I didn’t pass this one by. I would highly recommend checking this one out.

Have you read this one? Have thoughts? It is going on your TBR?

I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of their Sunday!

Hello loves! Here we are on another Sunday which means it is time to get another standalone recommendation from me! Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Megan @ bookslayerReads. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, I know it has been a busy one for me! I am not ready for it to be Monday tomorrow at all, or ever really if I’m honest. I HATE Mondays.

This week my recommendation is…

32797060Sometimes your life is split by a single decision.

I’ve spent every day of the last seven years regretting mine: he left, and I didn’t follow. A thousand letters went unanswered, my words like petals in the wind, spinning away into nothing, taking me with them.

But now he’s back.

I barely recognize the man he’s become, but I can still see a glimmer of the boy who asked me to be his forever, the boy I walked away from when I was young and afraid.

Maybe if he’d come home under better circumstances, he could speak to me without anger in his voice. Maybe if I’d said yes all those years ago, he’d look at me without the weight of rejection in his eyes. Maybe if things were different, we would have had a chance.

One regretted decision sent him away. One painful journey brought him back to me. I only wish I could keep him.

*A contemporary romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion*

Okay, now I absolutely adores this book. It was emotional and raw. However, I am aware that it has mixed reviews in the world of books. I truly think this will go down as one of my favorite books of this year though. I really just love ever Staci Hart book I have read so far, and I can’t wait to explore some of her other works.

Have you guys read this one yet? What did you think?

Until Next Time…

Hello loves! It is Sunday again which means it is time for another Standalone Sunday post. This weekly meme is hosted by the wonderful Megan @ bookslayerReads. As always it is a way for focus on awesome standalone books in a world full of series. I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday!

This week…

3063499When U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a smiling young woman half-buried in the dirt during his third tour of duty in Iraq, his first instinct is to toss it aside. Instead, he brings it back to the base for someone to claim, but when no one does, he finds himself always carrying the photo in his pocket. Soon Thibault experiences a sudden streak of luck—winning poker games and even surviving deadly combat that kills two of his closest buddies. Only his best friend, Victor, seems to have an explanation for his good fortune: the photograph—his lucky charm.
Back home in Colorado, Thibault can’t seem to get the photo—and the woman in it—out of his mind. Believing that she somehow holds the key to his destiny, he sets out on a journey across the country to find her, never expecting the strong but vulnerable woman he encounters in Hampton, North Carolina—Elizabeth, a divorced mother with a young son—to be the girl he’s been waiting his whole life to meet. Caught off guard by the attraction he feels, Thibault keeps the story of the photo, and his luck, a secret. As he and Elizabeth embark upon a passionate and all-consuming love affair, the secret he is keeping will soon threaten to tear them apart—destroying not only their love, but also their lives.
Filled with tender romance and terrific suspense, The Lucky One is Nicholas Sparks at his best—an unforgettable story about the surprising paths our lives often take and the power of fate to guide us to true and everlasting love.

You all know I am all about romance, and I couldn’t call myself a romance lover if I didn’t love Nicholas Sparks. But of course I do! The Lucky One is by far my favorite book from Sparks. I just absolutely love Logan and his story! It definitely is a tear jerker, as is per usual from Sparks. If you haven’t read this one from him check it out!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and your upcoming week!

Until next time…

Standalone Sunday | February 12th

Hello loves! It is Sunday again which means that it is time for another Standalone Sunday post, which is a weekly meme hosted Megan @ bookslayerReads. I really need to start reading more standalone books because I am running out of books to show for you guys!

This week I will be featuring…

26154406From the author of the New York Times bestselling Spellman Files series, Lisa Lutz’s latest blistering thriller is about a woman who creates and sheds new identities as she crisscrosses the country to escape her past: you’ll want to buckle up for the ride!

In case you were wondering, I didn’t do it. I didn’t have anything to do with Frank’s death. I don’t have an alibi, so you’ll have to take my word for it…

Forty-eight hours after leaving her husband’s body at the base of the stairs, Tanya Dubois cashes in her credit cards, dyes her hair brown, demands a new name from a shadowy voice over the phone, and flees town. It’s not the first time.

She meets Blue, a female bartender who recognizes the hunted look in a fugitive’s eyes and offers her a place to stay. With dwindling choices, Tanya-now-Amelia accepts. An uneasy―and dangerous―alliance is born.

It’s almost impossible to live off the grid today, but Amelia-now-Debra and Blue have the courage, the ingenuity, and the desperation, to try. Hopscotching from city to city, Debra especially is chased by a very dark secret…can she outrun her past?

With heart-stopping escapes and devious deceptions, The Passenger is an amazing psychological thriller about defining yourself while you pursue your path to survival. One thing is certain: the ride will leave you breathless.

This was an interesting thriller to say the least. It definitely takes you on a roller coaster ride from start to finish, and it is written very well. Anyone who enjoys a good thriller, I would recommend giving this one a shot. It has twists and turns and quite the fascinating storyline.

Have you read this book? What did you think?

Until next time…

Hello guys! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! I most certainly am not. I have been sicker than a dog the past 2 days, it sucks!! Today is the first day I have even felt like doing anything other then sleeping, it has been seriously rough. So hopefully today will be the day I start feeling better, but who knows. At least I feel like I can get caught up on some reading and posts today so that is a good sign.

Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by the awesome Megan @ bookslayerReads.

This week I will be showcasing…

26114135

As the daughter of a meth dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. Struggling to raise her little brother, eight-year-old Wavy is the only responsible “adult” around. She finds peace in the starry Midwestern night sky above the fields behind her house. One night everything changes when she witnesses one of her father’s thugs, Kellen, a tattooed ex-con with a heart of gold, wreck his motorcycle. What follows is a powerful and shocking love story between two unlikely people that asks tough questions, reminding us of all the ugly and wonderful things that life has to offer.

I just recently finished All The Ugly and Wonderful Things, and I have to say that this book was truly amazing. It definitely was a dark, raw, beautiful story. I was so surprised by this book, there were so many elements that I just loved. I don’t know how the author took such a depressing story and turned into something so lovely but she did, and I would highly recommend that if you haven’t read this book yet, to do so now!

Hey loves! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! I know I am, I have this weekend off so it has been quite a nice break! Anyways, Sunday means it is time for another weekly Standalone Sunday post, which is a meme hosted by Megan @ bookslayerReads. Standalone books need love too! And if you haven’t checked out her blog yet I recommend doing so!

This week I will be featuring…

27261683Welcome to Luminous: where your pleasure is our purpose. Fan-favorite author Stacey Lynn tantalizes readers with a sensual new series.

Haley

The first time I felt Master Jensen’s presence beside me, I knew he would be the one to show me all the kinky pleasures of Luminous.

That I would give my body to him. Begin my journey to sexual freedom at his feet.

But when I dared raise my eyes to his, I saw he would get a part of me no man had had before: my trust.

Jensen

From the instant I saw her blush, I was captivated.

There was power in her innocence—a power I quickly controlled.

Every moan, every cry, every new awakening was mine. I pushed her boundaries and watched her sexual confidence grow…knowing that in the end, I would have to let her go.

I know the price of love and I’m not willing to pay it.

I dominated her body and she enthralled my heart. But I have to walk away before I ruin the one I love.

Again.

I have quickly grown to love Stacey Lynn’s books. They have great stories and are always written so well. Dominate Me was no different. It falls more toward the kinky side, however, doesn’t take it too over the top. If you are looking for a wild sexy read this is one i would highly recommend. Check out my full review of Dominate Me HERE.

Standalone Sunday | January 22nd

standalone-1

Hey guys! It is Sunday again which means that it is time for another Standalone Sunday post, this weekly meme is hosted by Megan @ bookslayerReads. I am so glad it is Sunday, and my day off. However, I have so much to catch up on. Me and my husband have been sick for the past week-ish and it means that I am seriously behind on life. I have no groceries in the house, no clean clothes, and no blog posts planned. But I am hoping that we are finally getting to the end. So today is the day to get all caught up on everything…wish me luck!!

Anyway, this week I will be recommending…

33133783I hired her to fix my company, to bring Marks Lingerie back to life. I didn’t expect her to become my friend. I didn’t expect to fall in love with her.

The first rule of business is to never touch your employees. I think there is another rule about not falling for your best friend–a rule against imagining the curves of her body, or the way her breathing would change if I pulled down her panties and unzipped my pants.

Now, I can’t wait any longer. I’m tossing out the rules.

Damn the company.
Damn our friendship.
Damn my fears.

WARNING: This standalone is packed with sexual tension, insane chemistry, and enough surprises to keep you glued to its pages. May cause distraction from life and require a change of panties.

Holly hell lets talk about some sexual tension! This book is PACKED full of it! And man was it a slow tortuous amazing ride. This is a great friend to lovers book. It is also a workplace romance. I highly recommend this book for romance lovers!

Have you read this book? Have thoughts? Let’s chat below!
