About the Book:

Kelsey McDade realizes that her love life is one and done. Her last—and only—relationship left her broken and afraid and more than ready to be alone for the long haul. But sexy-charming vineyard manager Luke Westcott pushes all of her buttons in the right way and makes her wonder if she ought to try again.
In nearly twenty-eight years, Luke’s most successful romance has been with the outdoors. Currently single, he’s happy to pour all of his energy into his new winery until Kelsey provokes feelings he didn’t know he was capable of. He can envision their future together—if she’ll let down her guard.
When the ghost of Kelsey’s past causes her to slam on the brakes, Luke is ready to fight for her, even if it means sacrificing himself in the process. Convinced she’s only made wrong choices in the past, Kelsey must decide if Luke—and their love—is worth the greatest risk of all.

Review:

So Right is the second book in the Love On The Vine Series by Darcy Burke. However I read this one as a standalone as this is the first book I have read from Burke. So Right follows Kelsey as she is still struggling to overcome her abusive ex. She puts all she has into her work, and is very proud of it. Luke is one of the owners of the vineyard in town, and runs in the same circle as Kelsey. He is a loner and has problems with sharing his personal life as well as space. This is a slow burning, extremely sweet romance.

For me this book was only okay. I like a good sweet simple romance every once in a while, but this one was just a little too sweet for my liking. I really enjoyed Luke’s character the most, he is your typical guy next door. He is sweet and caring and has a big heart. He also owns a vineyard… I mean come on that’s my dream guy! He is patient with Kelsey as she is trying to get her life together, and wants nothing more than to be the person that is there for her. Kelsey’s character on the other hand, I did not feel as much love towards. I just found Kelsey’s character super indecisive and kind of annoying at some points. I understand that she is dealing with the aftermath of her abuse, however, I just really didn’t like the way she was written.

Pretty much 90% of the storyline is what you would expect of your typical romance novel, there is nothing special about it necessarily, and then you get to the last like 3 chapters and get an interesting turn of events. I’m sitting there thinking, well where was this the whole book? Overall it wasn’t a bad book, and it probably is a great book for someone other than me. There just wasn’t anything super exciting that grabbed me and pulled me in for this one.
