Author’s Note: Dominic is a steamy standalone romance. He is the ultimate Anti-Hero, so be prepared for a crazy, rough ride. To fully understand Dominic’s actions, I recommend reading the first book in the Benedetti Brothers duet, Salvatore.

I would like to start off this review by saying that this on one DARK romance. It has elements that are not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. There are heavy mafia elements along with elements of abuse. If you have a problem with those I would highly recommend not reading this book.

Now with that being said, let’s get on with my review. I went into this book pretty much blind. I have not read the first book in the series, nor had I read anything from Natasha Knight previously. I think this can very much be read as a standalone, however, if you have read the first one previous you might have a little bit more understanding going in. I didn’t seem to have a problem picking up on the plot line or the history in this book though.  I am not going to go into too much of a summary with this one, as I feel like going into it blind helped me appreciate the novel for what it was. I won’t lie to you, this book pushed my limits. There were a couple times in the first few chapters that I caught myself thinking about putting the book down. It is dark and twisted, and kind of horrifying. This really isn’t a romance for the faint of heart. That being said I like it quite a lot.

After I got passed my initial shock on this one, the story unraveled into a beautiful terrifying love. Dominic is told in alternating POV between Gia and Dominic. This not only gives us a look into each characters head, it gives us at the reasoning and events that have led us to the situation they are currently in. Gia is possibly one of the strongest female characters I have come across, she isn’t willing to go down easy, nor is she willing to take the easy road. Dominic is definitely an anti-hero, he is running from a lot in his life, and to put it simply he is a horrible person. Both of our main characters have mafia ties, and those ties seem to be causing problems for them, Dominic with the family he ran away from, and Gia with the family that was taken from her. I will apologize again for not giving too much of a summary, but I really do think that going into this book blind helped me out so much. I don’t know that had I know the details previous to picking this up, if I still would have read it. I don’t feel like the synopsis gives much away as far as the plot goes and I was most definitely surprised.

I really enjoyed the writing style in this book, it was intense. I was so glad that this book took plot factors into consideration outside of the romance. In all honesty, 80% of the book I read out of need to find out what was going on with Gia and Dominic’s family and the action of the plot, not for the romance aspect. I always love when I pick up a romance novel and it surprises me with the story that unfolds within. Dominic was one of these books, and I was so happy it was. Not that I wasn’t 100% routing for our main characters in their relationship, but it wasn’t my main focus while reading.

I highly recommend checking out Dominic if you enjoy dark romances of any kind! I will more then likely be checking out the first book in the series.
