Title: Indigo Nights

Author: Louise Bay

Source: NetGalley, Thank you so much for an Advanced Copy!

Publication Date: February 9th, 2016

Goodreads Synopsis: The only thing better than cake is cake with a side of orgasms.

Dylan James has no expectations when it comes to relationships. He uses women for sex and they use him for his money and power. It’s quid pro quo and he’s good with that. It works.

Beth Harrison has been burned. She’s tired of the lies and the game playing that men bring and has buried herself in her passion—baking which keeps her out of the reach of heartbreak. As she begins her career as a TV baker, a new world opens up to her.

Dylan and Beth both know that casual sex is all about giving what you need to get what you want.

Except that sometimes you give more than you need to and get everything you ever wanted.

My Rating: 3.75/5 Stars

Ahhh another steamy read! I may have a problem…

But cakes AND steamy scenes? Who can say no to that?!? Indigo Nights has a fun lineup of characters. Beth is a YouTube star for her baking and focused on her sobriety. Dylan is your typical romance novel businessman, you know we are all suckers for a sexy man in a suit that has money! They have an instant connection but Beth does not want anything to do with Dylan. Okay, well, maybe…

A one-night stand, Beth thought, what could go wrong? I will never see him again so why not?

Oh universe you had other plans!

So many steamy scenes… one involving chocolate mousse…need I say more?

I enjoyed this book quite a bit,  I read it mostly in one sitting, thats how drawn in I was. Beth is a character you want to love. She has struggled and overcome so much to get to where she is that you can’t help but want what is best for her. And what is best for her? Dylan of course! She just doesn’t know it yet. Dylan, although not as relatable, is still a character you want to love. Beth and Dylan’s story is really a whirlwind romance, and in this book they move so fast and seem to have it all figured out. At some points it is a little too good to be true, but you keep reading just to see what happens…and for the steamy scenes of course! At some points I thought of it as a little unrealistic, like when Dylan flies to England to surprise Beth after their second one-night stand then gets angry because he sees her with another man, which happens to be her brother. To me that seems a little unrealistic, however, I would like to think that maybe for some lucky girl that would happen, I mean it shows he cares right?

As Beth and Dylan’s relationship shapes and takes form they struggle with typical long distance relationship things such as not always being able to be together and who comes to who and when. They also deal with typical relationship problems, such as trust problems, Beth’s brother, and it can’t have a successful businessman without paparazzi problems. My one big complaint about this book is a feel like there needs to be more drama. I know I never thought I would have said it either, but I feel like the storyline is lacking in that department. Beth and Dylan really only have one fight in their relationship throughout the book, and for me it all just has a too good to be true vibe. I think that I would have been sucked in even more to my connection with the characters if they had struggled a little bit more within their relationship. In romance novels I like the relationships to be relatable, and I don’t know about you but but I think most relationships have their struggles.

Overall, I would say that this is a good light read. Other than the intensely steamy, and they are, love scenes this book is simple. It was a good feel-good read for me that got me out of a sort-of reading slump. I think that Louise Bay is a known romance author for a reason and if that is your cup of tea you should give it a go!

Would I recommend this book? Yes!

The Liebster Award

Hey all you lovely people!

First of all I want to thank Nicole over at Sorry, I’m Booked for nominating me for this award! This is a blog award that is meant to focus on new bloggers, which I am for sure, so it is really awesome to get nominated for something like this!

The Rules

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you
  • Nominate 11 bloggers that you think are deserving of the award
  • Let the bloggers know you nominated them
  • Give them 11 questions of your own

So here are the 10 questions I received from Nicole…

1. Why did you start your blog?

Well first I started off on Instagram and simply wanted to be someone who spent a lot of time taking photos of books. I have always been a reader and book hoarder but over the years I lost touch with my book self due to life. Husband, job, dog all of it took a lot from me. I decided that I needed to have some me time which is what my books give me…then the Instagram was formed, after working on Instagram for a few weeks I decided that I loved being a book photographer but what I really wanted was to have my own page where I could get my thoughts out there. What better place then a blog? My blog is my second home where I can connect with people who are as nerdy as I am and I love it.

2. What’s your favorite part about blogging?

My favorite part about blogging is seeing what all of my followers are up to. I love connecting with people that stumble upon my blog, whether through comments, awards and other tags, or just by seeing new stories pop up in my Reader. I love having connections with people all over the world through books. What a powerful force that is.

3. What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi, however, I am really struggling to get into it.

4. Where was the last, new place you visited? (Doesn’t necessarily have to be a city or country)

Last new place I visited…Probably Roasted which is a local coffee shop.

5. Coffee or tea?

You know, if you would have asked me this a year ago I would have said coffee hands down…but my book blogging friends have dragged me over to the dark side. I must say that I enjoy both about equally now.

6. What’s your favorite season and why?

My favorite season is hands down Autumn. I live in Colorado, which is simply beautiful year round, however, I think that fall in Colorado is breathtaking. The colors you get at that time of the year are my favorite! Not to mention big cozy sweaters and boots…and PSLs.

7. What is your current obsession?

My current obsession is probably Elephants, which has been an obsession for a while. I also currently have an obsession with dying my hair fun colors…it might be a problem!

8. What was the last song you listened to?

I don’t even know, possible Hello by Adele because I am seriously addicted to that song!

9. What’s your favorite thing to do on a Sunday?

My favorite thing to do on a Sunday is to get cozy with my hubby and dog and enjoy a nice book or some Netflicks.

10. Tell me a random fact about yourself!

A random fact about me huh? I am currently on Pinterest scoping out my next hair color… pink blue or magenta?

Alright so I know the rules say I am supposed to nominate 11 people but how about 7

Claire @ Art and Soul

Rae @ The Bookmark Chronicles

Reg @ She Latitude

Astra Guild @ A Stranger’s Guide To Novels

Melanie @ It’s A Bookish Thing 13

Emily @ The Little Book Affair

Anna @ alittlebookworld

Here are your questions…

1. Why did you start blogging?

2. What is your favorite part about blogging?

3. Physical Book or E-book?

4. What are you currently reading?

5. Whats one thing on your Bucket List?

6. Cake or Cookies?

7. What is your favorite book genre and why?

8. Is there a specific author or book that got you into reading?

9. If you could do one thing in the world right now what would it be?

10. Read the book or watch the movie first?

11. One random fact!

Thank you for Nicole for tagging me I enjoyed participating in this! For those of you tagged there is no pressure to participate…for those of you who choose to do so I look forward to reading your answers!

WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday #6

Hey guys its Wednesday again which means its time to get caught up on what we have been reading the last week! This past week has been kind of crazy…Colorado has had a major storm moving through and we have gotten a ton of snow, not to mention my work schedule has been weird which leads to me being thrown off on what day it is. Does anyone else ever have that effect them? Sometimes I think I might loose my head if it weren’t attached. Anyway, I have gotten a decent amount of reading done this week so I am happy with that!

As normal the 3 W’s are…

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

13455782

I am currently reading Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi…So I have heard this is kind of a book you either love or hate. I will say I am not very far into this one, like maybe 30 pages, but so far I don’t really feel like it is grabbing me. At this point I really am only reading to see if it gets better and draws me in. So we will see!

What did you recently finish reading?

17399160

I recently finished Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch…what can I say I LOVED this book! Meira was such an amazing female heroine, and I loved that this story focused mostly on this aspect and had the love triangle in the background.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Next I think I will either be reading one of the many Galleys I have stacked up!

What have you guys been reading this week? Please leave your 3 W’s below or leave the link to your post! I love hearing what you guys are reading! And I promise I will be getting some reviews posted very soon!

Until Next Time

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: Historical Settings I Love

Hey guys! It’s Tuesday which means it is time for the weekly meme Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the lovely people over at The Broke And Bookish!

This weeks topic is anything to do with historic or futuristic societies. I am a hug history buff so this week I am going to be going with my Top Ten Favorite Historic Settings!

  1. Medieval Europe– This is by far my favorite time in history. From the Crusades to the Black Death I really just can’t get enough of this time period…weather it be reading history books or historical fiction set in this time frame I just love it all!
  2. Italian Renaissance– This is just such a spectacular time frame, and a big one, these times were full of wonderful art, lots of drinking, and lots of scandal.
  3. 1920’s Paris– As much as I hated The Paris Wife, I really do love the fun of the Roaring 20’s. Drinking and skimpy clothes were on the rise along with love affairs and sone magnificent writers. The 20’s is when women finally start to break out of their shell, and the stories that come along with that are spectacular!
  4. Tudor England– Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn…My two favorite people in history…Enough said…
  5. Ancient Greek/Rome/Egypt– Ahhh…The mythology along is enough to spark my fancy!
  6. Pre-Monarchy Europe– Anything from the Celtics, to the Vikings, to the Picts. I love all the magic in the world before Catholicism and Monarchy ruined it.
  7. 18th and 19th Century England Jane Austen anyone?
  8. WW II–  As sad and as heartbreaking as most of these stories are they really are moving. This was such a hard time in history.
  9. Colonial America Mostly, more specifically, The Salem Witch Trials…Have I stated that I’m a sucker for magic, witchcraft, ann/or anything involving witched?
  10. The Victorian Era– Yep pretty much perfection for me!

Okay guys, I feel like I had a really hard time just picking 10! This hit the spot with me being a history major! I really just had to go vague because the list would have been miles long if I hadn’t and I don’t know that you would have stuck around to read it!

What are your guy’s thought? What are your Top Ten Favorite Historical Settings? Feel free to leave your answers below or link to your TTT Post!!

Until Next Week…
