Title: Sweet Ruin (Immortals After Dark #16)

Author: Kresley Cole

Goodreads Synopsis:An immortal assassin is caught between desire and duty…

A foundling raised in a world of humans

Growing up, orphaned Josephine didn’t know who or what she was—just that she was “bad,” an outcast with strange powers. Her baby brother Thaddeus was as perfect as she was flawed; protecting him became her entire life. The day he was taken away began Jo’s transition from angry girl… to would-be superhero… to enchanting, ruthless villain.

A lethally sensual enforcer on a mission

A threat to the Møriør has brought archer Rune the Baneblood to the mortal realm to slay the oldest living Valkyrie. Whether by bow or in bed, he never fails to eliminate his target. Yet before he can strike, he encounters a vampiric creature whose beauty conceals a black heart. With one bite, she pierces him with aching pleasure, taking his forbidden blood – and jeopardizing the secrets of his brethren.

A boundless passion that will lead to sweet ruin…

Could this exquisite female be a spy sent by the very Valkyrie he hunts? Rune knows he must not trust Josephine, yet he’s unable to turn her away. Despite his millennia of sexual conquests, he can’t ignore the unfamiliar longing she arouses deep within him. When Jo betrays the identity of the one man she will die to protect, she and Rune become locked in a treacherous battle of wills that pits ultimate loyalty against unbridled lust.

My Rating: 5/5 red hot stars!

Review:

Okay so let me begin by stating that I have never read an Immortals After Dark book…or anything from Kresley Cole for that matter. However, the snip got my attention right away!

OMG this book was SO HOT! I just felt like you needed to know that upfront before we get into it!

Joe is a newly awakened vampire who knows nothing about this world that apparently exists in cohesion with the world she used to be apart of. Rune is a powerful assassin and probably one of the biggest man-whores in any book I have ever read. But despite that Rune and Joe find themselves in the same place at the same time on multiple occasions. Joe thinks she can use this big brooding beautiful man to find out more about this world she seems to be apart of now, and Rune is drawn to this defiant woman who seems to not fall under his spell.

The path of these two creatures leads them back together multiple times and soon enough they are sharing a bed….a very very very hot bed!

This book really is so hard for me to put into words…I just absolutely loved it! Joe and Rune had such chemistry throughout the book and so much sexual tension. Not to mention Cole does a great job at creating a very descriptive *wink**wink* and intriguing world. This story isn’t simply a romance novel that has no backbone, the story line is just as intriguing as the extra steamy sex scenes.

Joe and Rune struggle throughout the book with their relationship. Rune not used to being able to have a real relationship with any woman before due to his poisonous blood, he doesn’t feel that he is worthy to any form of relationship outside of sex with random women for information. Joe struggles with letting anyone in because everyone in her life has been pulled away from her. They struggle with their intertwined fate as they struggle against the powerful woman that is Nix in order to save Thad.

There is no possible way that I can lay out all that happens here in this story…nor do I want to. I don’t  know how I have never read one of Kresley Coles novels before but I can guarantee that I will be picking more up. I connected with the characters in this book more than I ever imagined I would. I went into this book thinking that it was just going to be some quick sappy romance read with some paranormal twists but man was I wrong!! Never have I been so engrossed in the actual storyline of a romance book…normally I just read romances as quick cheap thrills. However Cole does a fantastic job at creating real writing and not just fluff.

I HIGHLY reccomend this book!

Go out and get it…NOW!

Then come back so we can gush about it together!
